Forestry major (National first-class major, National Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Training major, National Characteristic major, 4-year program, Bachelor's degree in Agronomy)
Training objectives: To cultivate individuals who adhere to the correct political direction, possess a sound personality and good humanities and social science literacy, ecological civilization awareness, social responsibility and professional ethics, and have innovative spirit, entrepreneurial ability and teamwork ability; A composite applied talent who is proficient in the theory, knowledge, and skills of molecular genetic breeding of forest trees, efficient cultivation of forest resources, investigation, planning, and design of forest resources, sustainable management of forest resources, and protection and utilization of forest resources. We will focus on cultivating innovative leading talents with profound theoretical foundation, strong innovation and entrepreneurship, strong organizational management and practical abilities, voluntary dedication to regional forestry and ecological environment construction, and an international perspective.
Main courses: Modern Forestry Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, Forest Surveying, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, Forest Conservation, Forest Ecology, Forest Cultivation, Tree Breeding, Sustainable Forest Management, Experimental Design and Statistical Analysis, Lumbriculture, Urban Landscape Greening, Urban Forestry, Forestry Project Management, etc.
Cultivation characteristics: Adopting a 2+2 training model, the first 2 years are divided into major categories for training, and the last 2 years are divided into majors for training.
Employment direction: Engage in scientific research, production, and management work in forestry production and administration, forestry related enterprises and institutions, universities and research institutes, etc.
(2) Ecology major
Ecology major (Guangxi advantageous characteristic major, four-year program, Bachelor of Science degree)
Training objectives: To have a high sense of social responsibility, good humanistic literacy, scientific spirit, psychological resilience, and a healthy physique; Master solid knowledge and fundamental theories in mathematics, physics, and chemistry; Systematically master the basic knowledge, theories, and skills of ecology; Having a broad international perspective, sharp ecological thinking, strong innovation consciousness, and pioneering spirit; Proficient in the theory, methods, and techniques of comprehensive management of mountains, waters, forests, fields, lakes, and grasslands; Graduates have the ability to independently or lead teams to solve environmental and sustainable development issues related to ecology, and possess independent innovation and entrepreneurship abilities in fields such as ecological and environmental protection.
Characteristics of cultivation: Adopting a 2+2 cultivation model, the first 2 years are divided into major categories for cultivation, and the last 2 years enter into professional quality cultivation. The professional courses adopt a seminar based teaching approach to cultivate students' innovative abilities, and offer multiple English courses (with foreign teachers) and bilingual courses (with foreign teachers) to broaden students' international perspectives.
Employment direction: Graduates mainly engage in basic research, applied research or technology development, monitoring and management related to ecological environment in industries such as ecological environment protection, agriculture and forestry, scientific research and education, water conservancy, and land use.
